Maximising the returns from your stadium asset – Stadium Revenue Summit 2007 at Wembley provided plenty of inspiration for its international audience
The emails and letters of congratulation for Stadia’s recent Stadium Revenue Summit, held at the new Wembley Stadium, keep pouring in. Over 280 delegates travelled to London from over 35 countries to hear the views and share the knowledge and experience of over 20 expert speakers, including Adrian Ford, Arsenal FC’s commercial director; Roger Maslin, finance director of the new Wembley Stadium; Mario Zambas, CIO, Dubai Sports City; and Chris Overholt, vice-president of marketing partnerships and new media, Dolphins Enterprises LLC.
Highlights included an exclusive preview of the planned redevelopment of the Nou Camp, presented by David Falk, director of real estate development at FC Barcelona (pictured left); an insight into the commercial factors behind Twickenham’s South Stand development, presented by Paul Vaughan, business operations director, RFU Twickenham; and a look at the issues facing stadia managers in Latin America, presented by Dr Alfredo Wodtke, general manager, and Daniel Fernandez, stadium manager, Club Atletico River Plate, Argentina.
Delegates also enjoyed exclusive access-all-areas tours of both Wembley Stadium and the O2, which were hosted by each venue’s management and operational partners, who provided their personal insights into the day-to-day operation of both venues. Further networking opportunities included an informal tour and evening reception at Lord’s, as well as a champagne reception at one of Wembley’s exclusive suites.
In partnership with BDS Sponsorship, delegates were also able to appraise their stadium’s secondary income streams at the SRS07 Revenue Clinic.
Overall, SRS provided an exceptional platform for consultants, practitioners, technologists and the clubs themselves to discuss the full scope of today’s multiple revenue streams available to stadium operators – and learn how to implement them to maximum benefit.
What they said:
“SRS provides a really good and broad perspective of the industry – there’s a lot of things going on outside of the USA here in Europe that we would never have discovered without attending the summit.”
Chris Overholt, Dolphin Enterprises LLC, Miami, Florida, USA
“I’ve learned a lot in respect to revenue streams for stadia – coming from South Africa, it’s been great to learn
so much as the country prepares to host the World Cup in 2010.”
Ronald Stevenson, director of finance 2010, the City of Johannesburg, South Africa
“The topics covered are of great interest and extremely relevant to the industry moving forward.”
Patrick Pressard, stadium director, Stade de France
“Quite simply, the best networking event in the industry”
Ben Veenbrink, principal, The Stadium Consultancy bv, Netherlands
